Spike (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
A villain so good-looking he couldn’t stay bad forever. And we’re not alone in our love of Spike—just ask Buffy herself.
Loki (Thor, The Avengers)
Let’s just say we wouldn’t be too sad if Loki succeeded in taking over the world. I mean, the guy can pull off a helmet with giant horns. That’s impressive.
Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII)
It’s official: villains get the best hair and the best uber-dramatic trench coats. We’re not wild about the prospect of a crazy alien mother-in-law, but we can still look, right?
Dexter
Okay, so Dexter only kills criminals—but he’s still a serial killer. And serious eye candy.
Benedict Cumberbatch in Star Trek: Into Darkness
This movie isn’t even out yet, but let’s be real: we don’t need to see it to know that Benedict Cumberbatch gets a spot on this list.
Alan Rickman (Die Hard, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Harry Potter, Sweeney Todd)
Alan Rickman has been playing awesome villains since 1988’s Die Hard. He may be a little older these days, but we could listen to him talk forever.
Thomas Barrow (Downton Abbey)
Rob James-Collier plays this conniving WWI-era footman. He may not have plans to take over the world, but he’s a horrible person—and not horrible-looking in a tux.
Cillian Murphy (Red Eye, Batman Begins)
Cillian Murphy has played both creepy kidnapper (Jackson Rippner in Red Eye) and creepy supervillain (the Scarecrow/Dr. Jonathan Crane in Batman Begins). Evil? Yes. Hot? Also yes.
Klaus (The Vampire Diaries)
Seriously, how can you possibly resist that accent and the adorable lisp? Sure, he may turn you into a human blood bank if it meant he could make more of his precious hybrids, but deep down we think there might be a sensitive, centuries old Original in there somewhere.
Jareth (Labyrinth)
He’s David Bowie. ‘Nuff said.

Lucius Malfoy
Lucius (1) has an awesome snake-head cane, (2) pulls off the trademark long hair of a true fantasy-genre villain, and (3) turns out to be a much more complex character than the early books/movies give him credit for.

So unbelievably glad you included Benedict Cumberbatch in Star Trek Into Darkness on this list! When I saw the Tweet announcing the list, I immediately headed over, specifically to see if he was included, and if he was not, to comment that he MUST be added! Not only is Benedict hot, but his character is set to be a seriously evil, and yet sympathetic and multi-layered villain. Plus, Benedict’s low, growl-y villain voice can give Alan Rickman and Jeremy Irons a run for their money, as evidenced in the trailer released last night for the Superbowl.
