It’s the battle of the bad-boy vamps in this edition of Character Cage Match. In our alternate universe, we put Damon Salvatore of The Vampire Diaries into a cage with Spike by Buffy the Vampire Slayer and see which vampire comes out on top.
Here’s the lineup:
Damon Salvatore appears to be the leading man in this cage match. He’s immensely strong due to his healthy appetite for human blood; and his lack of the feels gives him a leg up. After all, no remorse = supreme strength. The problem lies in his undying love for Katherine Pierce, and her modern-day doppelgänger Elena Gilbert. With her in the picture he continually lets his guard down – putting his own strength/life on the line. So not a winning situation.
Enter Spike. He’s a British bad boy with a Billy Idol-esque look (peroxide locks and all), and a taste for the blood of the one person who can take vamps out with ease…the slayer. Spike, however, is riddled with a few problems. In the beginning stages he has the incredibly needy Drusilla on his hands; later, he becomes entangled romantically with the slayer). His constant girl probs seem to take his mind off the important thing…the kill.
While I would love to see my original vamp crush (Spike) take the crown in this match, his lack of focus seems to be an issue – even if he does have the slayer on his side (sometimes). Damon’s somewhat senseless acts of violence make him a more likely candidate for the winning title.

Damon! I haven’t watched Buffy, but Spike looks weird. That hair is so ugly. He’s just not attractive too me.

Okay, I think Damon might win this one because he is sort of more gory with his techniques. Like tearing the heart right out of the victim’s chest and totally mangling the neck. So, I think the win goes to Damon.

I don’t know. Spike was the original, but I’ve seen Damon do some things that have really shocked me. Spike never shocked me. So I’ll have to go with Damon, sorry Spike. You were the trend setter, but the moves have gotten better.
